Getting Organized For Summer

Written By Melanie McConnell

Hooray!! Summer is upon us! This time of year can bring so much joy with getting outdoors more often, gathering with friends and family, outdoor events, and hopefully more downtime. How can you set up your space so that you maximize the joy this beautiful season can bring?

Step One:

Gather all your off-season winter accessories (hats, gloves, scarves) and supplies (shovels, ice scrapers, etc.) together for sorting. Then separate them out to store until next year, donate, recycle, or toss. Getting all these items out of the way will hopefully clear up some space to start fresh in the new season.

Step Two:

Gather all your summer accessories (sunglasses, sunblock, bug spray, water toys, pool towels, etc.). Make sure every item is still useful and brings you joy. Be sure to check expiration dates on things such as sunblock and bug spray. Discard/donate the items responsibly that no longer serve you or your family.

Step Three:

Store the summer supplies in easy to access locations so you can easily enjoy them and not go searching through your home to find them! Be sure all your family members are aware of where the items are, so you do not have to be the gatekeeper.

Step Four:

Take selected items to your location donation center and enjoy your new space!
